Rates per season:
USD2,660 per person for high season from 1 July to 31 October 2019 (ballooning is offered at a supplement)
USD2,130 for November 2019
Rate includes:
Accommodation, meals, soft and alcoholic drinks, activities (game drives, night drives, mokoro, walks, Bushman culture/skills), return transfers from the airstrip, laundry, park and concession fees.
Return flights are with Mack Air Maun – Bushman Plains – Maun as well as departure taxes.
The camp overview
As one of a very few owner-hosted camps in Botswana and the only camp to be majority-owned by Bushmen, Bushman Plains Camp is an authentic and unique safari experience in the Okavango Delta. Thanks to three brothers from the Bukakwe clan of Bushmen, the camp boasts expert tracking and guiding along with deep cultural engagement and learning with the indigenous nomadic hunter-gatherer people of Botswana.

The camp’s central mess tent consists of an open-air dining area and a veranda for lounging and socializing. As the campfire is central to Bushman culture, every day is concluded by gathering together beneath the magical Botswana night sky to share ancient stories and tell new tales of the day’s adventures.

Guests can expect locally sourced fresh and seasonal ingredients on their plates. The camp’s trained chefs create delicious meals that are predominantly Western-style with options for sampling traditional fare.

Bushman Plains accommodates guests in just four tents, which means it is an intimate and relaxed camp that connects seamlessly with its natural surrounds. The tents are a wonderful combination of modern amenities with traditional canvas tents and the richness of local Bushman craftmanship.

The tents are raised above the ground on wooden platforms offering guests expansive views from their private veranda or the comfort of king or twin beds. Electricity is provided by 24-hour solar power generation for basic lighting and charging of electronics. Each tent has a spacious en-suite bathroom with flush toilet, running water sink and traditional bucket shower with hot water on request

Bushman Plains has one of widest range of activities in the Okavango, made particularly special with the expertise and perspective of Bushmen guides. The camp is in a private and exclusive part of the Delta, which means guests will feel like the only ones for miles around and won’t have to compete for space with crowds.

Along with traditional daytime game drives, guests can explore the Delta off road, on foot, after dark and on the water. From April to September, guests can take to the sky and soar above the Delta in a hot-air balloon. Not only will the scenery be a feast for the eyes, guests can expect to see wildlife from a unique perspective too.

Cultural and walking safaris focus on the small secrets of the wilderness that guests learn first-hand from the masters of the bush. Guests will be taught survival skills by a traditional Bushman guide while being immersed in the surrounding environment that is home to diverse animal, bird and plant species.
