East Africa's iconic safari destination, defined by vast savannahs, dramatic escarpments and wildlife spectacles that created the modern image of 'safari'.

Kenya Parks

Where to go

Kenya's parks are legendary:

  • Maasai Mara National Reserve: World-famous for the Great Migration, abundant big cats and endless plains.
  • Amboseli National Park: Iconic elephant herds with Mount Kilimanjaro as backdrop.
  • Tsavo East & West: Huge wilderness of red elephants, lava flows and rugged escarpments.
  • Samburu National Reserve: Home to the rare “Samburu Special Five” (Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, gerenuk).
  • Private conservancies provide exclusive, low-impact experiences where vehicles are limited, where you can off-road and where community conservation is at the core. Private areas typically offer superior game viewing, night drives and walking safaris.
Kenya Weather

When to travel

Kenya is a year-round destination

  • Dry seasons (Jan - Feb & Jun - Oct): Prime wildlife viewing; animals gather at water sources, roads are good, skies clear.
  • Long rains (Mar - May): Lush greenery, fewer crowds, great photography; some remote camps close.
  • Short rains (Nov - Dec): Brief showers, fresh landscapes, strong wildlife sightings.

The Great Migration reaches the Maasai Mara roughly July - October (exact dates vary with rain).
